Tigers Earn Six Weekly Awards Following First Meet of the Season

CLEMSON, S.C. – After opening the indoor season at home this past Friday at the Clemson Opener, six Tigers have earned ACC weekly honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.  

On the men’s side, Cameron Rose, Daniel Cope and Blaik Slavinski all earned weekly awards for their individual events while Ken’Naria Gadson, Shantae Foreman and Kendra Dye all earned honors on the women’s side. 

The ACC will have six weekly awards for both track and field athletes, as the conference has introduced a pair of new awards this season for Male and Female Freshman of the Week. 

ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week: Cameron Rose

At the Clemson Opener, Cameron Rose impressed in the 300 meter run as he was the first to cross the line with a time of 32.61, which was a new personal best for the senior. Rose also recorded a PB in the 60 meter prelims as he ran a 6.69. 

ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week: Daniel Cope

With a mark of 21.31 in the weight throw, Daniel Cope won the event at the Clemson Opener as he began his junior season for the Tigers. Following his performance, Cope is ranked fourth in the nation in the weight throw. 

ACC Men’s Rookie of the Week: Blaik Slavinski 

In his first meet for the Tigers, freshman Blaik Slavinski shined in the 1000 meter run as he set the new program record for the event as he earned a first-place time of 2:20.52. Slavinski’s time is the fastest in the world for the 1000 meter so far this year. 

ACC Co-Women’s Track Performer of the Week: Ken’Naria Gadson 

With a dominating performance in the 600 meter run at the Clemson Opener, Ken’Naria Gadson completed the event at 1:29.05 as the senior was the first to cross the line to secure another first-place finish for the Tigers. Gadson also recorded a new personal best in the 300 meter as she finished the event with a time of 38.52.

ACC Co-Women’s Field Performer of the Week: Shantae Foreman

At the Clemson Opener, Shantae Foreman dominated the triple jump as she earned first-place with a jump of 13.08. Following her performance, Foreman entered Clemson’s top-10 list as her jump is No. 8, all-time for the Tigers. 

ACC Women’s Rookie of the Week: Kendra Dye

At the Clemson Opener, freshman Kendra Dye impressed all in the weight throw as she competed in her first meet for the Tigers. In the weight throw, Dye earned a second-place with a mark of 17.41 as her performance moved her into Clemson’s top-10 list as she rounds out the all-time performances at No. 10.
