Tigers Drop Tough One at Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Clemson volleyball team fell 3-0 (18-25, 20-25, 20-25) at Boston College in Chestnut Hill on Sunday afternoon. The loss puts the Tigers at 17-10 on the season and 5-8 in the ACC, while the Eagles improve to 10-13 overall and 5-7 in conference play.

Sophomore Leah Perri led Clemson’s offense with 11 kills, while senior Karis Watson was right behind her with 10. Senior Kristin Faust and freshman Kate Federico led the backcourt defense with 11 digs each. Federico also added 25 assists.

The Tigers struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm against Boston College. Despite starting off the first set with a big kill from Federico, the Eagles led the rest of the way. Boston College was able was able to shut down the offense at the net, putting down five blocks. Clemson hit only .023 in the first set.

Watson headed the offense in the first two sets, putting down eight kills on 18 swings. Federico kept the Eagles on their toes with three kills in the second set, allowing the Tigers to spread the offense. Faust and Perri put down four and three kills in set two, respectively.

Despite coming out with more energy in the third, Clemson still couldn’t find a way to score. Boston College came out swinging, putting down 15 kills. The Tigers were able to tie it up at 19, on the back of Perri who put down four out of five kills in the 11-6 spurt, before the Eagles closed out the set 25-20, and took the match 3-0.

The Tigers travel back to Clemson to host two conference opponents next weekend. First, they take on Louisville on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 16 they face NC State at 1 p.m. in Jervey Gym.
