SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Clemson Tigers (6-5, 0-2 ACC) dropped its final match of this weekend’s doubleheader on Sunday afternoon against Notre Dame, (10-4, 2-0 ACC) 4-1 at the Courtney Tennis Center.
The Fighting Irish took control early in doubles as they claimed a victory on Court 3. Shortly after, Notre Dame’s Malkowski and Fu clinched the doubles point on Court 1 by a score of 6-3, giving Notre Dame the early advantage.
Notre Dame picked up its first singles victory on Court 5 as Conklin won 6-1, 6-4. The Tigers quickly rebounded as freshman Max Smith secured the victory on Court 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-4, but it was not enough as wins on Courts 4 and 1 clinched the match for the Fighting Irish.
Up next, the Tigers will return home to Duckworth Family Tennis Facility for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12. Clemson will take on UNCW at noon and The Citadel at 5:00 p.m.
