Tigers Drop Match 4-2 to No. 6 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 25 Clemson Tigers (19-6, 7-5) dropped a Sunday afternoon match 4-2 to No. 6 Virginia (16-6, 8-4) for their final road match of the regular season.

The Tigers started the match off strong in doubles as they tabbed two wins to secure the doubles point. The duo of Wissam Abderrahman and Viktor Markov were the first to record a win as they downed Virginia’s Ty Switzer and Stiles Brockett 6-1 on court three.

The No. 85 pairing of Max Damm and Romain Gales took down the No. 42 duo of James Hopper and Keegan Rice 6-3 on court two to clinch the point and give Clemson the 1-0 lead.

In singles, Gales was the first and only Tiger to secure a win as he defeated Roy Horovitz 6-1, 6-3 on court four. Virginia dominated the rest of singles as they recorded wins on five, six, three and one.

Up next, the Tigers are set to host their final match of the season at home as they welcome Georgia Tech to the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Friday, April 11 at 6 p.m. ET. The match will be the Senior Day match as the Tigers are set to honor Max Smith, Matt Pitts and Max Damm.
