CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Clemson Women’s Tennis team (9-7, 1-5 ACC) fell to fifth-ranked North Carolina (13-2, 6-0 ACC) 4-0 on Saturday on the road. Each of Clemson’s last three conference opponents have come against top-25 competition, with two of those in the top five.
Opening the day in doubles, the Tigers worked hard. On court three, doubles duo Daniella Medvedeva and Alexandra Anttila dueled in a 3-4 battle that was ultimately left unfinished as courts one and two fell. Alina Tsyurpalevych and Sophia Hatton managed to notch one point on the board before falling 6-1.
Five players were available to play singles. Anttila shined in her match, besting Tatum Evans 7-5 in their first set. Evans led 3-2 in the second, but the match was left unfinished as courts one and two fell to the Tar Heels.
Daniella Medvedeva fell on court one to the No. 49-ranked singles player in the country but still managed to notch a couple of games before ultimately falling 6-2, 6-3. On court two, Jenna Thompson fell to 19th-ranked Fiona Crawley 6-4, 6-0 on line two.
