Clemson, S.C. — In its first road match of the season, the No. 40 Clemson men’s tennis team (7-4, 0-2 ACC) dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 45 Georgia Tech (7-4, 1-1 ACC) on Thursday afternoon at Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta, Ga.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point. Carlos Kelaidis/Teodor Giusca took the first doubles match at for Clemson at line three while No. 1 duo Gabriel Diaz Freire/Pierre Louis Dodens clinched the point for Clemson.
Despite entering singles down 0-1, the Georgia Tech took four-straight singles matches to defeat the Tigers, 4-1.
Note:
- It marks the first time that the Tigers have lost to Georgia Tech since 2011 and the first time since 2010 that Clemson has lost to the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta.
- Kelaidis/Giusca extend their winning streak to five matches.
