CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team stormed back on the second day of the Clemson Hidden Dual for a win over a combined VCU/Yale team. With wins on courts 2 and 3 from Jorge Plans Gonzalez/Ryuhei Azuma and Nini Dica/Teodor Giusca, the Tigers were able to start the match strong with the doubles point.
Their momentum continued building into singles as Ryuhei Azuma, Teodor Giusca, Spencer Whitaker and Max Smith all picked up wins on their courts to solidify the Clemson win.
“It was another good day for us,” said Head Coach Robbie Weiss. “Yale and VCU have some very tough players which gave us the opportunity to be really tested. Spencer and Max stepped up big as did Ryuhei and Teo. I am really proud of the team for the way they have been competing all fall and today was no different. Tomorrow should be a great day of competition as we go up against Florida and Middle Tennessee State. We need to finish the weekend strong and then continue to build into the spring.”
Clemson will return to action tomorrow at Duckworth Family Tennis Center for the final day of the Clemson Hidden Dual at 1:00 p.m. to take on MTSU/Florida.
