CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers (10-9, 3-5) were defeated 65-89 by the No. 17 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a Sunday afternoon ACC matchup in Atlanta. Loyal McQueen led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points (7-15 FG, 2-2 FT) and Mia Moore had seven rebounds.
Clemson struggled in the first half, as Georgia Tech shot very well at 66.7% from the field and 50% from 3FG. However, the Tigers capitalized on turnovers, forcing Georgia Tech 10 turnovers and scoring 10 points off of them. Clemson also tallied 38 points in the paint and had 23 bench points.
The Tigers gained momentum coming out of halftime, going on a 12-2 run across a 2:21 span in the third period, cutting the 20-point halftime deficit to as few as six points in a 5:52 time frame. Clemson shot 10-15 from the field during this period and knocked down three triples, two of which coming from Raven Thompson. Despite this effort, their push was not enough to overcome the Yellow Jackets as the clock wound down.
