CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team picked up their second win of the weekend at Duckworth Family Tennis Center against the Indiana Hoosiers, 5-2.
The Hoosiers took the first point of the match by winning doubles, despite Maxwell Smith and Ryuhei Azuma registering a win on Court 2 and Teodor Giusca and Andrew Puscas having to retire their match on Court 1 due to a Puscas injury.
The Tigers rebounded quickly as Teodor Giusca, Spencer Whitaker, Matt Pitts, Ryuhei Azuma and Jorge Plans Gonzalez all won on their courts. Azuma and Liu both went to a third set on Court 1 and 4, respectively.
“The boys had to dig deep today against a tough Indiana team, but they found a way to get it done,” said Head Coach Robbie Weiss. “They are doing a tremendous job with their toughness and grittiness. We have to finish tomorrow against Liberty. They are a very good team and need to be ready to go. Really proud of the boys.”
