Palos Verdes, Calif. – Clemson women’s golf wrapped up the first day of the 2024 Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Saturday, in a tournament that has been completely altered by the threat of severe weather heading towards California.
The #15 Tigers played two match-play rounds today, dropping their first match 3-1-1 to #19 San Jose State. Isabella Rawl won her match 2-up, thanks in large part to a birdie on the par-3 15. Annabelle Pancake tied her match, but Melena Barrientos, Sydney Roberts and Chloe Holder each dropped their matches to put the Tigers into the non-winners bracket to face Georgetown in the second round.
With the second round of the day suspended due to darkness, the Tigers finished the shortened round with a win, 2-1-2, against the Hoyas. Rawl won her second match of the day at 1&1, while Pancake took a win at 3&2. Barrientos and Holder each ended their match in a tie, while Roberts dropped her match 3&2.
As an individual, freshman Ivy Schulze won her first match, 1-up, against Wake Forest’s Anne-Sterre Den Dunnen. In her second match, Schulze dropped her match 5&4 against UCLA’s Zoe Campos.
The Tigers are set to play the third round on Sunday, weather permitting. Updates on opponent and start times will be published once available.
