Tigers Advance to 3-0 With Win Over College of Charleston

Clemson, S.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team concluded the Duckworth Family Classic with a 6-1 win over College of Charleston to advance to 3-0 on the season.

The Tigers took the doubles point as No. 3 Eleni Louka/Ali DeSpain and No. 1 Mackenzy Middlebrooks/Tate Schroeder each notched 6-3 victories over their opponents. Additionally, Sydney Riley and Lana Sipek made their 2020 doubles debut at line three, earning a 6-4 win over Halli Trinkle/Eva Nowak.

In singles, Sipek, Louka and Nait Omar cliched the match at 4-0 with wins straight sets. Middlebrooks and DeSpain also rallied to wins in tiebreak fashion.

OF NOTE:

  • It marks the third-straight season that the Tigers have gone 3-0 to start their season and the 20th time in program history.
  • The Tigers remain undefeated in doubles play through three dual matches.
  • Seven Tigers also remain undefeated at singles in dual matches.
  • All four Tiger freshman remain undefeated in singles in dual format.
  • Senior Sydney Riley made her dual match debut with a 6-4 win in singles

 

UP NEXT: The Tigers play another double-header on Saturday where they will take on UNC Charlotte and Kennesaw State at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
