Clemson, S.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team (5-0) capped off its second doubleheader of the season with two more wins in the Duckworth Family Tennis Center. The Tigers opened the day with a 5-2 victory against the Charlotte 49ers (1-2) before completing a 7-0 sweep of the Kennesaw State Owls (0-5).

The Tigers earned the doubles point with two dominant wins as No. 1 Eleni Louka/Zaina Nait Omar went 6-1 and No. 3 Ali DeSpain/Laura Marti overcame a 1-3 deficit to win 6-3. In singles, Clemson freshmen excelled. Eleni Louka notched the first singles point, going 6-0, 6-2. Ali DeSpain and Lana Sipek followed up with two more victories to clinch the match. Tate Schroeder also added another point to the board.

In the second match of the day, Clemson came out strong with a swift doubles point victory. No. 3 Ali DeSpain/Laura Marti raced to a 6-0 finish, and No. 2 Tate Schroeder/Sydney Riley were not far behind, finishing 6-1. The Tigers carried their early momentum into singles, tallying six straight set wins from Tate Schroeder, Mackenzy Middlebrooks, Lana Sipek, Zaina Nait Omar, Laura Marti, and Sydney Riley. Freshman Lana Sipek blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 to earn the team’s first singles point.
