Tigerama 2022

By: Maggie Crowe

Note: The following appears in the NC State football gameday program.

The annual Homecoming celebration known as Tigerama takes place this year on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. This event has grown immensely from where it started 66 years ago, when famous Clemson alumnus Joe Sherman brought this idea to Tigertown in hopes of creating a uniting event at the end of Homecoming week.

Since then, Tigerama has grown to feature a culmination of student groups, segments of entertainment, philanthropic efforts and a display of fireworks every year on the Friday night of Homecoming week.

This year, Tigerama features a unique combination of traditional and transformational components. Just as in previous years, the audience can expect the crowning of the 2022 Homecoming Queen, fireworks and appearances from the Rally Cats, Tiger Band and the football team.

The show also includes an acoustic set by Carly Miller as fans enter the stadium, features from new student groups and even an upbeat performance by a well-known American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer.

Additionally, the theme of this year’s Tigerama show is “Timeless Tigertown.” The theme aims to portray the permanent loyalty Clemson fans have to this special place in the foothills of South Carolina. It is a culmination of traditions that never gets old, orange that never goes out of style and memories that never feel boring.

What they say is true…you can take the student out of Clemson, but you can never take the Clemson out of the student. So whether you are dreaming to call yourself a Tiger one day or you are a happy Clemson student now, or maybe even a proud alumnus reminiscing on your time on campus, there is certainly a special piece about this show for every person.

To experience the timelessness of Clemson once again, we would love for you to join us in celebrating one of the most special traditions that Clemson has to offer during this year’s Homecoming week. Tigerama 2022 is bound to be one of the best yet, and we cannot wait for you to experience it for yourself.

HISTORY OF TIGERAMA

On Nov. 8, 1957, Joe Sherman and Blue Key Honor Society oversaw the inaugural performance of Tigerama, making it the second-largest, completely student-run pep rally in the nation.

Tigerama has become a hallmark event during the Homecoming weekend in Tigertown, highlighting for an audience of thousands the best of what the university has to offer in terms of Clemson spirit.

Since 1957, Tigerama has been more than just a celebration during Homecoming weekend…it is a unique experience for Tiger fans of all ages. Tigerama is not only a catalyst for school spirit, it is also a source of essential scholarship support.

Since its founding in 1957, the proceeds from Tigerama have provided the top student from each academic major a Tigerama scholarship, which recognizes excellence in the classroom and leadership in the community.
