CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s track and field team finished second at the 2004 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships held this weekend at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Championships. Tye Hill and Adam Linkenauger led the Tigers on day two with individual titles in the heptathlon, 60m dash and high jump, respectively.
Tye Hill led the Tiger sprinters with his time of 6.73 in the 60m dash, winning his first ACC crown. The 60m title was the seventh consecutive for Clemson, which has not lost a 60m race since 1998 when the event was added to the conference meet. Ronald Richards and Ronald Richards, Marquis Andrews and Cheney finished third with a time of 3:16.50.
Freshman Adam Linkenauger captured the ACC high jump title in his first conference meet, clearing a career-best and provisional qualifying mark of 7’2.25″. Ryan Koontz and Ben Daniels each cleared 6’9″ to place fifth and sixth. Jason Bell was the Tigers’ top performer in the triple jump, recording a season-best mark of 49’0.25″. Brit Barrow placed eighth in the triple jump, recording another season-best mark of 48’3.5″.
Senior Ryan Koontz tallied 5,107 points to take sixth place.
Clemson men’s track and field returns to action next Saturday as the Tigers host the Clemson Classic.
