CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger Paw logo has been ranked second in the nation by Athlon Sports in the publication’s list of College Football’s Best Official Logos. The Tiger Paw was designed by artist John Antonio in the summer of 1970 and has been the most easily-recognizable symbol of Clemson over the past four decades. It has been a symbol of excellence and pride among Clemson students, faculty, alumni and fans around the world.
Athlon Sports’ Art Director Matt Taliaferro noted that the Tiger Paw is “synonymous with Clemson athletics and is utterly simple but still edgy and creative.”
The Tiger Paw ranks second behind the Texas Longhorn, and is ranked just ahead of Georgia’s oval “G”. BYU’s “Y” and North Carolina’s interlocking N-C round out the top five. Miami’s “The U” was the only other Atlantic Coast Conference school logo listed in the top 20, as it was ranked ninth nationally.
