Raleigh, NC-Former Clemson golfers Lucas Glover, Kevin Johnson and Charles Warren all finished in the top 17 at the SAS Carolina Classic in Raleigh on Sunday. The Nationwide Tour event was held at the par 71 TPC at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, NC.
Glover led the former Tiger contingent with a fourth-place finish. He had scores of 67 and 66 over his final two rounds to finish at 271, 13-under-par. He was three shots short of champion Dave Morland, who had a four-day total of 268. It was the best tournament finish of the year for Glover, a Greenville native who was a senior on Clemson’s second ranked team of 2001. He had tournament best 23 birdies (including each of the last three holes). It was his third top 10 finish this year and his fifth straight made cut.
Johnson finished ninth overall with a 272 score after rounds of 64-71-68- 69. His final round included birdies on his last four holes of the day. It was the second best finish of the year for Johnson, an All-American at Clemson between 1985-89. He had a third place finish at the Clearwater Classic in New Zealand earlier in the year.
Charles Warren had a final round 68 that included a hole-in-one on the seventh hole. He had rounds of 66-71-69 and 68 to finish at 10-under-par 274. It was the second straight 17th-place finish for the only Clemson golfer in history to win the NCAA Championship.
