Recap |  Box Score |  Quotes |  Photo Gallery

  • Tyler Colvin’s walk-off grand-slam home run was the first walk-off grand-slam in any game in Clemson history.
  • It was the first walk-off home run by a Clemson player in an NCAA Tournament game since May 20, 1977 when Bill Foley hit a solo home run to beat Mississippi in an NCAA tournament game in Miami, FL.
  • Colvin’s and Foley’s homers are the only walk-off homers in NCAA tournament play in Clemson history.
  • Colvin’s walk-off homer today was the first by a Tiger in any game since Brad McCann had a three run homer in the bottom of the ninth to beat Georgia Tech 9-7 on April 25, 2003.
  • It was the third walk-off hit by a Clemson player this year, the second by Tyler Colvn this year. Colvin had a single to beat Florida State in the bottom of the ninth by a 4-3 score on May 13. Ben Hall had a walk-off single to beat Georgia Tech in the ACC tournament.
  • Clemson did not have a walk-off game winning hit in the first 50 games, but now has had three in the last 15 games.
  • Herman Demmink led of the game with a home run, the second consecutive game in which he has done that. He is the first Clemson player to have two lead off homers in an NCAA tournament since Zane Green did it three times in the 2002 tournament. We are yet to find an occurrence in Clemson history in which a player led off consecutive games with home runs. It was the fifth career lead off homer for Demmink.
