Stephanie Ellison-Johnson Named WCGA Region 5 Administrator of the Year

Clemson, S.C. – Clemson Executive Senior Associate AD/SWA Stephanie Ellison-Johnson has been named the Region 5 Administrator of the Year, the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced Tuesday.

Ellison-Johnson, a Clemson alumna, was instrumental in the creation of the first NCAA Division I Women’s Gymnastics program in more than 20 years. She was key in bringing Amy Smith, the 2024 ACC Coach of the Year, to Clemson. The Tigers finished second at their inaugural ACC Championships and earned an NCAA Tournament berth in their first season.

Ellison-Johnson also guided Clemson’s efforts to sell out the final four of five home meets and finish 8th in average home attendance in their first season (8,508). She was integral in the opening of a 21,000-square-foot facility to call home for day-to-day gymnastics operation and practice, with competition in Littlejohn Coliseum. The complex includes a practice gym, offices, locker room, lounge and training room.

Regional awards are determined by a coaches’ vote.

Ellison-Johnson’s role in the program’s creation is detailed in the docu-series “Building Legends,” available on ClemsonPlus.com.
