Position: Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Mental Health
ERYN DELANEY, Ph.D.
Dr. Eryn DeLaney (Dr. E) is a licensed Counseling and Sport Psychologist. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Athlete’s Mental Health at Virginia Commonwealth University and gained specialization in Sport Performance Psychology as a doctoral intern at Texas A&M and a post-doctoral fellow at UNC Charlotte embedded within Athletics. She also earned her Master’s of Education in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining Clemson as Assistant Director of Mental Health, she was an embedded Sport Psychologist at Charlotte. She also served as an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Applied Physiology, Health, and Clinical Sciences during the 2024–25 academic year.
Dr. E provides mental health and performance support with an emphasis on building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship while creating space for individuals and teams to explore their lived experiences. She collaborates with others to identify goals and work toward growth in all areas of their lives. Her approach often incorporates a relational, strengths-based, and empowerment-focused lens, viewing individuals as continuously evolving and strengthening the multiple components of their identities.
Dr. E has diverse experience and training in working with a wide range of mental health and performance concerns. She especially enjoys identity development, relationship and family dynamics, trauma, and building resilience and tolerance for distressing thoughts and performance anxiety.
In her free time, she enjoys watching TV and documentaries, exercising, going on adventures like skydiving, spending time with loved ones, eating delicious food, listening to music, and laughing.
