DeAndre McDaniel is in his 12th season on staff at Clemson and his fifth as Clemson’s senior defensive assistant after being promoted from defensive analyst in December 2021.

McDaniel joined Clemson’s staff as a graduate assistant in 2015 and has since helped Clemson to a 126-27 record with eight ACC titles, seven College Football Playoff berths, four CFP National Championship Game appearances and two national titles. Clemson’s defense finished in the Top 15 in total defense in each of his first seven seasons on staff and earned Top 3 finishes in scoring defense four times in that span.

McDaniel was a distinguished four-year letterman at safety at Clemson from 2007-10 and collected multiple All-America honors, including first-team selections from the Football Writers Association of America, CBS Sports and Phil Steele in 2009 and third-team selections by Rivals and Phil Steele in 2010. He was inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.

McDaniel, a 2010 Clemson graduate, finished his college career with 296 tackles (18.5 for loss), 15 interceptions, 20 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two sacks and a fumble recovery in 53 career games with 35 starts, garnering first-team All-ACC honors in 2009 and 2010.

                  McDaniel is married to his wife, Talia, and has five children: Deandre Jr., Carson, Londyn, Kross and Colbie.
