Alex Bina

Director of Applied Science

Dr. Alex Bina is in his ninth season as the football program’s Director of Applied Science — and his 11th season assisting Clemson overall — in 2026.

Bina helped develop — and now operates — two unique components of the Allen N. Reeves Football Complex: the Brook T. Smith Clemson Applied Science Lab (CASL) and the Jeanne and Brian Penner 100 Yards of Wellness. Bina and CASL staff leverage innovative technologies to evaluate athletic development, and in the 100 Yards of Wellness, his Applied Science staff implements passive recovery modalities such as cryotherapy, infrared light exposure, sensory deprivation and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to ensure athletes feel — and perform — their best.

Bina earned his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from Penn State in 2013 and his Ph.D. from Clemson in 2022. In addition to his role with Clemson Football, he has occasionally served as an in-venue host and MC for Clemson Basketball and Clemson Baseball at Littlejohn Coliseum and Doug Kingsmore Stadium, respectively.
