Staab Invited to U19 USWNT Camp

CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman defender Sam Staab has been invited to the U19 U.S. Women’s National Team camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The camp will be held from January 23-30th.

The San Diego native started all 20 games for the Tigers’ backline and led the team in assists with 7 from the defender position. She also scored two goals in her first season in a Clemson uniform, her first coming in a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 16 at Historic Riggs Field. Staab combined for 11 points on the season, the second best on the team in that category.

Staab received end of the year honors as she was named to the ACC All-Freshman team as announced on Nov. 5.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Sam being invited into National Camp.  She was one of the top-performing freshmen in the ACC this season and had a great season for Clemson.  Not many freshmen can step on the field in the ACC and impact the game like Sam did.  It’s nice to see our players getting recognized for their performance, especially on a national stage,” said head coach Eddie Radwanski about the invite.

Junior forward Shannon Horgan was also named to the U20 U.S. Women’s National Team roster earlier this week.
