Erin Barker Season 2012-13

Pre-Clemson Highlights • Transfer from Furman University, where she graduated in May of 2012 • All-SoCon and all-region cross country performer as a senior for the Paladins • Placed 21st at the Southeast Regionals with a personal best 6K time of 20:59.6; would have finished second on Clemson’s team that placed fourth • Fourth-place finisher at the 2011 SoCon Cross Country Championships with a 5K time of 17:05.80 • Placed sixth at the Clemson Invitational, running a 6K time of 21:08.65, in 2011 • Top finisher for Furman in all seven of its cross country meets in 2011 • Ran well during the 2012 indoor track season, earning all-conference recognition in the mile (4:54.35) and 3K (9:49.53) • Holds Furman track records in the 1500 and mile • Red-shirted first year, giving her a full year of eligibility with Clemson cross country and track & field  Easley High School Highlights • Finished third in the state in cross country as a sophomore, fourth as a junior and sixth as a senior • Three-time region champion in cross country • Three-time all-state in track, with a best of second in the 1600 meters in 2008 • Four-time MVP for cross country team Personal • Born 10/18/89 • Daughter of Phil and Sue Barker • Father ran cross country and track at Furman and still holds the men’s 800 meter record for the Paladins • Mother was a member of the Furman women’s tennis team from 1975-79 • Sister, Lindsey, ran cross country and track for Furman from 2004-08 • Uncle, George Barker, ran cross country and track at Harvard from 1969-73 • Uncle, Joe Guise, played football for Temple from 1969-73 • Earned Furman degree in May of 2012 in health and exercise science • Enrolled in human resource development in the fall, she was an all-region selection in cross country for the Tigers Best Collegiate Times • 5,000 – 17:05.80 • 6,000 – 20:59.6
