Fall 2012: Played in all four events in the fall…had 75.33 stroke average…had second round 70 at the Carpet Classic for his best round of the fall…finished 36th at Jerry Pate to help Tigers to fifth place finish as a team…his score counted 10 of 12 rounds…had 27 birdies.
Summer 2012: Had a very busy summer, he played in six major amateur events…had his best performance at the South Carolina Amateur where he finished third with a nine under par score of 271…had two rounds of 64, the first and fourth…had consecutive top 25 finishes at Palmetto Amateur and the Monroe Amateur…shot 290 at Palmetto and 287 at Monroe…had final round 66 at Monroe…finished 45th at Players Amateur and 30th at Porter Cup…had two more rounds in the 60s at Porter Cup.
2011-12: Had outstanding junior year with 71.62 stroke average, second on the team…just 0.32 strokes per round behind All-American Corbin Mills…his stroke average was among the top 20 in Clemson history for a season…played just the seven spring events, he missed the fall due to a back injury… had consistent year with 10 under-par rounds in 21 total rounds…13 of his 21 rounds were par or better…had back-to-back top four finishes to help Clemson to a pair of championships…finished second at USC Aiken and fourth at Furman…his birdie on last hole at USC Aiken gave Tigers the team title…first or second best Clemson golfer in five of the last six events of the year…had best par four average on the team at 4.03…led the team in eagles with five and had best average on par five holes at 4.68…had best score of the day in 14 of 21 rounds he played, best on the team…had the best tournament three of his seven events… shot 71 or better in all seven of his second rounds in 2011-12…had final Sagarin ranking of 79…second on team in putting at 29.78 putts per round…had six rounds at 70 or less in second rounds of tournaments…shot a career best 66 in the second round at ACC Tournament…Clemson’s top golfer in the NCAA Regional at Bowling Green, KY, he finished 14th with 218 score…ranked in top 20 in the nation in sand saves.
Summer 2011: Played in five major tournaments and had three top 20 finishes…started the summer with a 15th place finish at the Monroe, his performance included a third round 67…finished with a 283 score…followed that the next week with 18th place finish at the Northeast Amateur with a one under par score of 275…had a final round 67…finished 26th at the Player’s Amateur with another one under par score (287), including a second round 69…finished 42nd at palmetto Amateur, then closed the summer with a 15th place finish at South Carolina Amateur at Colleton River Plantation.
In 2010-11: Clemson’s best golfer in the spring in terms of stroke average with a 72.00 for the seven events…that includes a 71.2 average over his last 18 rounds…enters the 2011-12 season on a streak of six consecutive top 16 finishes, including a seventh place at the NCAA Regional in Colorado… Clemson’s first or second ranked player in each of the last six events…Mr. Consistency with six straight tournaments between 211 and 216 to close the year…had just three top 10s for the year, but three more finishes 11 through 16…had a rough fall with 75.56 stroke average, fifth on the team…best finish of fall was 23rd place at the Carpet Classic when he had a 220, four over par…started his run of good play with 213 at Puerto Rico Classic for 11th place finish, best among Tigers by five shots…had fifth-place finish at USC Aiken Cleveland Classic, his best finish of the year…had consecutive rounds of 69 to open the tournament, his first back-to-back rounds in the 60s in the same tournament…finished sixth at Furman to help Clemson to the team title…had final round 68 for his career best at the time…then started Augusta State with a 68…finished 12th at Augusta State, then 16th at ACC Tournament…had career best 67 in the final round at the ACC tournament, he was six-under-par for first seven holes…finished season with seventh-place finish off a 211 score at NCAA Regional…had a 69 in the second round…second on the team in stroke average with 73.06 average, but he was just two total strokes off the team leader, Corbin Mills…had seven rounds in the 60s to lead the team, all seven came in the spring over the last 16 rounds…had 10 under-par rounds to rank tied for first on the team… shot 75 or better in 24 of his 30 rounds and had his score count towards Clemson’s team score 28 of 30 rounds…had 71.6 stroke average in final rounds, best on the team…also led the team in par three scoring with 3.19 average…tied for the team lead in eagles with five, he has nine for his career… had the best round of the day 11 times for the year, second to Corbin Mills who has 13…ranked 114th in the nation according to Sagarin computer rankings to close the year.
Summer of 2010: Played in only five events, but had a top 20 in every competition he entered…did not elect to defend his South Carolina Amateur Match Play title, but finished 20th at Monroe Invitational to start the summer…had consistent rounds of 71-73-72-71 for 287 score…finished fifth at Eastern Amateur for his high finish of the summer…shot nine-under-par 271 on rounds of 67-68-70-66…finished 17th at Palmetto, including a final round 66…made consecutive eagles on the 14th and 15th holes in that final round…seventh at his US Amateur qualifier, but not good enough to advance to US Amateur…finished summer with 10th place at South Carolina Amateur, he had rounds of 75-68-69.
In 2009-10: Starter as a first-year freshman who showed tremendous improvement over the course of the season…had pair of top 10 finishes and nine rounds under-par…fourth on team in top 10 finishes and fourth in under-par rounds…he had nine rounds at 72 or better during his last 18 rounds…played his most consistent at NCAA Southeast Regional when he shot 72 or better in all three rounds…had second round 68 that tied for the best round by a Tiger at the tournament…finished strong with final round 72 to help Tigers to second-place regional finish, just two strokes behind top ranked Oklahoma State…helped Clemson to a second-place finish at The Brickyard in his second career event, he finished 21st with 145 score…had top 10 finish at Jacksonville with 224 score, that was his first top 10 as a Tiger…had second round 69 that was best round of the tournament by a Clemson golfer…struggled at Puerto Rico, but came back strong at Furman when he finished fourth as an individual…had 74-72-70 tournament at Furman, he had a good battle with his brother Austin in that same event…had second round 68 at The Hootie, best round by a Tiger at that event…had good start at Augusta State with 70-71, helping Tigers to a fourth-place team finish…had under-par rounds in first two rounds of ACC Tournament with 71-70 scores, he finished 34th overall…fifth on the team in birdies with 87, he was second in eagles with four…had 72.57 stroke average in second round this year, the second round was his best round in eight of his 11 tournaments.
Summer 2009: Had a strong summer that was highlighted by his victory at the South Carolina Match Play…had rounds of 69-72 to finish eighth in the qualifying….then won five straight matches to claim the title…had to beat two current teammates along the way, he downed Brewer Bradshaw in 19 holes in second round and McCuen Elmore 5&4 in the semifinals…defeated Garret Grimes 1 up to win the championship…reached second round of match play at the Carolina Amateur, he defeated Bert Atkinson in the first round 5&4 before losing to Todd Hendley 1 up….made the cut at the South Carolina Amateur and finished 42nd.
In High School: Helped Eastside High School to a top four team finish at the State 3A Championship three years in a row…that included the school’s first state team title in 2009 when he finished fourth at 145…he also finished in the top four individually all three years… finished the year number-one in the Heritage Classic rankings with 1458 points…three-time all-state selection…five-time all-conference choice…three-time Region Player of the Year…had quite a year in 2008 as he won 10 events…among his victories were the Scott Robertson Memorial, the Blade Junior Classic, the Jimmy Self Invitational, South Carolina Junior Match Play, SCJGA Players Championship, SCJGA Four Bowl, AJGA Medicus Preseason championship, Furman Invitational and Anderson Sunshine…qualified for the US Amateur…finished ninth at the 2008 Palmetto Amateur…also finished seventh at the Rolex Tournament of Champions.
