Cross Country Travels to Notre Dame for Joe Piane Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson’s cross country team is hitting the road this weekend to compete at the Joe Piane Invitational at Notre Dame. Clemson joins six ACC teams as well as over a dozen non-conference foes competing at the event.

The Tigers will look to build upon their strong start spearheaded by their youth. Freshman Fabiane Meyer has been the first Clemson woman to cross the finish line in each of the team’s two meets thus far. Freshman Sawyer Dagan was the top-performing male Tiger at the Kennesaw State Opener on September 3, while Jackson Leech shined brightest at the Florida State XC Open on September 17.

Head Coach Vicky Pounds is confident the team is primed for a superb effort. “Practices have been going very well… I’ve seen such a great progression in our workouts and I’m excited to see how that translates into the race.”

Both team’s will be competing in Friday’s “Gold Race” group. The women will compete against 23 schools at 1:30 p.m. while the men will square off with 20 schools at 2:30 p.m. Live results can be found at this link.
