Softball To Host 2020 Big Ten/ACC Challenge

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Softball program was named one of five ACC programs to host the 2020 Big Ten/ACC Challenge, the league offices announced Tuesday. Clemson is slated to host ACC foe Pitt and the Big Ten’s Maryland and Michigan State Feb. 14-16, 2020 at the Clemson Softball Stadium.

The 2020 Big Ten/ACC Challenge will mark the fifth time the two leagues have squared off. The Challenge now comprises of 10 schools from each conference. Each designated program is slated to play a total of four games. Head-to-head results between ACC and Big Ten schools will count towards the final Big Ten/ACC Softball Challenge standings.

The ACC and Big Ten have won on two occasions each, dating back to the inaugural event in 2016, with the ACC earning bragging rights the last two years.

The Big Ten and ACC offices collaborate to determine the schedule each season. In addition, the official title of the Challenge rotates each year. The 2020 event will be referred to as the Big Ten/ACC Softball Challenge and will continue to mirror the official title of the conferences’ Challenge agreements for men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball.
