CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Softball program held its ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday to welcome the official opening of the Clemson Softball Stadium. Clemson University President Jim Clements, Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich, Head Coach John Rittman, and student-athletes MK Bonamy and Cammy Pereira addressed the group of approximately 150 supporters.

“I want to say how extremely blessed myself, our staff, and our players feel to be representing Clemson University,” said Rittman. “On behalf of our program, I want to thank President Clements, our Board of Trustees, IPTAY and all of its incredible members, and especially Tom Hash for his generous donation, which made this beautiful practice facility we are in possible.”

Pereira, a redshirt-junior infielder, also expressed gratitude on the players’ behalf.

“Because of all of you our coaches’ promises have come to fruition, and everyday we walk into our facility overwhelmed with joy.”

The Tigers set to host its first-ever Fan Day at the Clemson Softball Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 25. The afternoon full of free activities will commence at 2 p.m. with gates opening at approximately 1:30 p.m. Fan Day is set to feature an autograph session, a hitting demonstration with the team and Rittman, and tours of the facility. Posters, schedule cards and other promotional materials will also be made available for free. The Tigers’ team shop by Fanatics will be open as well.

Clemson kicks off its inaugural season on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. against St John’s at UCF’s Black & Gold tournament (Feb. 7-9). The Tigers’ home opener is set for Feb. 12 in a doubleheader against Western Carolina. First pitch against the Catamounts is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
