CLEMSON, SC – Six different Clemson athletic teams are ranked in the top 25 of their respective sports this week. This is the first time on record that six different spring sports teams have been ranked in the top 25 at the same time.
Leading the way is the women’s track and field team at number-10 in the nation. The Lady Tigers finished sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. The men’s track and field team is not in the top 25 after a #25 finish indoors, but the outdoor team is near a top 25 ranking.
Both Clemson tennis teams are in the top 25. The Lady Tigers have been ranked in every poll this year and come in at number 14 this week. Nancy Harris‘s team has finished in the top 25 for 10 consecutive years and recently defeated a sixth ranked Duke team in Durham over the weekend on Duke’s senior day. Clemson is one of 12 schools in the top 25 in both men’s and women’s tennis.
Clemson’s baseball team is 17th in the nation by Collegiate Baseball and 22nd by Baseball America. The Tigers have won six straight entering Wednesday night’s game with Presbyterian. Jack Leggett‘s Tigers have been ranked in at least one poll every year he has been head coach (20 years).
Clemson’s golf team has been ranked in the top 25 of every Golf World Coaches poll so far this year and the Tigers were 23rd in the most recent poll released April 1. Clemson’s rowing program is ranked 14th nationally in the poll released today, April 10.
Clemson has already had three sports teams finish in the top 25. The Clemson football team finished ninth in the final USA Today Coaches poll. The women’s indoor track team finished sixth at the NCAAs, while the men’s indoor track team finished 25th.
