Greensboro, NC – Clemson graduate Shawan Robinson became the first Tiger basketball player to be named Academic All-ACC each of his four seasons after being announced to the 2005-06 team Thursday afternoon by the Atlantic Coast Conference. A native of Raleigh, NC, Robinson joins Quin Snyder (Duke, 1986-89), Henrik Rodl (North Carolina, 1990-93), and Matt Harpring (Georgia Tech, 1995-98) as the only four-time men’s basketball selections in ACC history.
Robinson earned his undergraduate degree in elementary education from Clemson on May 12, along with fellow seniors Akin Akingbala and Steve Allen. This past spring, Robinson was a student teacher at nearby Central Elementary while also helping the Tiger basketball team to a 19-13 record and second straight NIT appearance. He was a 2004-05 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree as well.
He finished the 2005-06 season as the ACC’s free throw accuracy leader at 91.3 percent, which ranks fourth-best in league history. He finished third nationally in that category. He led the Clemson team in scoring at 12.3 points per game and in three-point baskets with 63. Robinson finished his career with 201 from beyond the arc, third-most in school history. He also finished in the Tigers’ top 20 in career points (1,177), three-point percentage (.377), free throw percentage (.833), and steals (124).
