Shaw Tilton Hired as Assistant Rowing Coach at Clemson

June 30, 2006

Clemson, SC – Shaw Tilton has been named assistant rowing coach at Clemson University, head coach Susie Lueck announced Friday. Tilton brings nine years of coaching experience to the Tiger rowing staff, including three years as the head coach at the University of Tulsa (1998-2001). Tilton replaces Kelly Lynch, who had been with the program since its inception in 1998.

“Shaw’s diverse coaching background combined with his strong work ethic and commitment to the empowerment of women will make an immediate impact on the Tigers’ success,” Lueck said. “The confidence and experience Shaw brings to our coaching staff are significant factors that will help us build our program to be nationally competitive.”

Tilton will be assisting in recruiting as well as coaching. He was the head coach of both the women’s and men’s crew at Bates College in Lewiston, ME from 1996-98. He has also coached at Clark University, Simmons College, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since 2001, Tilton worked as a builder in West Kennebunk, ME with a company he owned.

Tilton earned a bachelor’s degree in Government from Clark University in 1991 and a master’s degree in Education from Boston University in 1996.
