GREENSBORO, NC – Junior Serenat Yaz has been named the ACC Volleyball Co-Player of the Week and Kristin Faust has been named the ACC Volleyball Freshman of the Week for their play in Clemson’s matches this past weekend against two ranked opponents. Clemson fell to No. 21 Florida State by a 3-1 count, but upset No. 22 Miami 3-2 on Saturday in the season home finale.
Yaz recorded a career-high 23 kills against Florida State in just four sets on Friday and hit .367, and added another 20 against Miami in Clemson’s upset of the Hurricanes. She also had 12 and 13 digs respectively, giving her 13 double-doubles this season. For the weekend, the Istanbul, Turkey, native averaged 4.78 kills and 2.78 digs per set, and hit .324 from the outside.
She splits the honor with Florida State’s Jekatarina Stepanova, who had 20 kills against Clemson on Friday and 18 against Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Faust played in eight sets, tallying 12 kills and hitting .400, while also registering 25 digs in the two matches. She averaged 1.5 kills and 3.1 digs on the weekend in earning her first career weekly honor.
Yaz is the second Tiger to earn Player-of-the-Week honors this season, as Sandra Adeleye earned the recognition earlier in the season. Faust becomes the first Tiger to claim her honor since Hannah Brenner won twice last season.
Clemson is 19-11 overall and 11-8 in conference play. The Tigers close the season Wednesday as they travel to Georgia Tech to take on the Jackets. The NCAA Selection Show airs on Nov. 27 at 6:00 pm.
