Senior Spotlight: Rachel Mumau

Rachel’s Rowing Journey

Rachel joined the Clemson Rowing team in the fall of 2016. In her freshman season, Rachel helped the 2V8 to three first-place finishes at the Cardinal Invite, Natoma Invite and Clemson Invite. During her sophomore campaign, Rachel split time between the 1V4 and 2V4. In the 1V4, the New Jersey native put together two gold medal performances and at the Clemson Invite, the boat turned in a season’s best time of 7:17.64. As a junior, Rachel collected another gold medal at the Lake Wheeler Invitational and also rowed to fourth place at the ACC Championship. In addition, Rachel is a three time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree.

From Rachel:

There is no doubt that these last four years have been the toughest, yet rewarding years of my life. It is no secret that my family here with Clemson Rowing has walked alongside me through it all. These were amazing years. Something I cherish most from my experience here at Clemson is the sisters I have made in each and every one of you. I always know I will have someone there to pick me up if I fall down to laugh with, to cry with, to win races with or someone who can just match my crazy energy. Row each day like its your last because you never know if one day you won’t be able to wake up 5 a.m. to go out on Lake Hartwell with the coolest, toughest, beautiful, strong teammates you have right now, ever again. Keep working hard and go make us seniors proud next year.

Thank you, Rachel, for your contributions to Clemson rowing over the last four years!
