Clemson, S.C.—Clemson freshman receiver Artavis Scott has been named ACC Receiver of the Week. Scott joins Charlie Whitehurst (2002 vs. Duke), James Davis (2005 vs. South Carolina) and Sammy Watkins (2011 vs. Auburn, Florida State and Maryland) as Tiger freshmen who were honored for ACC weekly awards other than Rookie of the Week in the last 15 years.
Scott had six catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers 73-7 win over S.C. State. The 164 yards established the Clemson freshman single game record for receiving yards. It broke the record of 155 set by Sammy Watkins against Auburn in 2011.
Scott’s touchdowns came on scoring plays of 37 yards from Cole Stoudt and eight yards from Deshaun Watson. He also had a 69-yard reception from Stoudt. Scott’s reception yardage total ranked fourth best in college football for the weekend.
