CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson women’s soccer junior goalkeeper Sandy MacIver has received the Adidas Golden Glove for her outstanding performance at the FIFA U20 World Cup in France.

MacIver, who was one of 21 players selected to represent her home country at the U20 World Cup, helped secure England’s 4-2 shootout victory over France, making 2 saves during the shootout round to secure the bronze medal.

England won its group stage, defeating defending U20 World Cup Champion North Korea in the opening match, along with Mexico and settling for a draw against Brazil. The Young Lionesses made history as they defeated the Netherlands 2-1 to advance to the country’s first-ever U20 Women’s World Cup semifinal. England dropped a 2-0 decision to Japan, ending their run for the World Cup title.
MacIver was the starting goalkeeper in all six matches for England. She had 22 saves in the group stage and added nine more in the final three matches for a total of 38 saves during the Women’s World Cup.
The Winsford, England native started 17 matches for Clemson last season. She finished the season with a .850 goals against average, .803 save percentage and six solo shutouts.
