Rowing Adds Nagorsen, Muench to Staff

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson rowing head coach Stephen Frazier Wong announced the hiring of Ted Nagorsen and Katie Muench on Friday.

Nagorsen will act as the First Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the program and comes to Clemson after serving as the head coach of the George Mason women’s rowing program since 2013 following stints as assistant coach and associate head coach. He earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in 2005 from Mercyhurst University, where he held positions as an admissions counselor and an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s rowing programs from 2006-2010. He also graduated from George Mason’s MBA program in 2015.

Muench will serve as the Third Assistant Coach and makes her way to Clemson via the University of Wisconsin, where she was a four-year scholarship athlete on the Badger women’s openweight rowing team. She graduated from Wisconsin in December of 2015 with a double major in psychology and history and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in sports industry management from Georgetown. Since graduation, she has spent time as an assistant coach for Harvard-Radcliffe’s women’s heavyweight rowing team and also earned an advanced certificate in rowing leadership from Community Rowing Inc.

“I am excited that Ted and Katie have joined the Clemson Family,” said Frazier Wong. “Ted’s wealth of coaching experience, especially his time as a head coach, will be invaluable for our team. Katie has great experience too, is a graduate of the Institute for Rowing Leadership and brings a toughness born from rowing through long, midwestern winters. I look forward to a great year with the addition of these coaches to help develop our students into champions.”

Along with the new hires, Frazier Wong promoted Mandy Merritt to Second Assistant coach and Head Novice Coach.
