BOSTON, Mass. – After the second day of the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, Tarees Rhoden secured his place in Saturday’s finals while five Tigers were named Second Team All-Americans.
In the men’s 800 meters, Rhoden shined as he recorded a second-place finish in his heat with a time of 1:47.66 to automatically qualify him for the final round of the 800 meter. Rhoden will look for an individual national title as he is set to compete on Saturday.
On the men’s side, Cameron Rose was named Second Team All-American following his performance in the men’s 60 meters as he crossed the line at 6.77. D’Andre Anderson was also named Second Team All-American after placing 10th overall in the men’s 400 meters. Anderson completed the event with a time of 46.35.
For the women, Gladys Chepngetich officially became an All-American in both cross country and track & field as she was named Second Team All-American for her performance in the women’s 800 meters. Chepngetich completed the event with a time of 2:03.31. In the women’s 60 meter hurdles, both Oneka Wilson and Antoinette Van Der Merwe were named Second Team All-Americans. Wilson crossed the line at 8.07 to secure ninth-place overall and Van Der Merwe finished at 8.12 to earn 11th place overall.
Three Tigers are set to compete in the final day of the indoor championships as Rhoden secured his spot in the men’s 800 meter finals as Courtney Lawrence and Shantae Foreman are set to compete as well. Lawrence will be representing Clemson in the men’s shot put and Foreman will be representing the Tigers in the women’s triple jump.
