Clemson, S.C. – Redshirt senior Rebecca Wells has been named the ACC’s Co-Specialist of the Week, it was voted on and announced today by the league office. This marks the fifth-consecutive week that the Tigers have garnered an ACC honor and Wells’ first of the season.
Wells led the Tigers to a win at Pitt on Friday night, with her best beam routine of the year leading the charge. The Smyrna, Tenn., native posted a career-high-tying 9.925 to take home the beam title, marking Clemson’s highest individual beam score of the season. That mark is also the highest in the ACC this season and was the only beam score above a 9.900 in the meet at Pitt.
She also captured her fourth all-around title of the year with a season-high 39.450 all-around score, narrowly missing tying a career-high (39.475). Wells set season-highs on three events, including a 9.850 on vault, a career-high-tying 9.900 on floor and the 9.925 on beam.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, February 17, as they travel to Raleigh, N.C. for a rematch with the NC State Wolfpack. The meet is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be shown on ACCNX.
