CLEMSON, S.C.-Citing a desire for a career in the medical field, Clemson punter Ryan Romano (West Palm Beach, Fla.) announced on Monday that he will not return for his senior season with the Tiger football program.

Romano will now turn his attention away from the football field and more towards his academic career as he hopes to gain admission to medical school.

As a red-shirt junior during the 1999 season, Romano had 65 punts for 2,594 yards and an average of 39.9 yards per punt. He had 15 punts die inside the 20 yard line and recorded 10 punts of 50 or more yards. Romano’s longest punt of the season was 60 yards and came against eventual national champion Florida State.

Romano is a biological sciences major at Clemson.
