Journal Entry #4, January 17, 2000

School has started again at Clemson University, which changes our daily schedule. Our day starts at 7:30 a.m. with team breakfast in the dining hall with our strength coach Jeff Watkinson. He wants us to make sure that we get a good breakfast to start our day. From there we go to class until as late as 2:30 p.m. The afternoon is blocked off for practice, usually at around 3:30. At this time of year we have a game every third or fourth day, therefore our practices are not as long as they are in the preseason. The day often includes study hall after practice.

During the school year the most difficult part about the season is missing class and coming home late after road games. Often during the season we have some road games on weekdays which leads to us missing classes. We return the same night after a game, sometimes as late as 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. This can make class very difficult early the next morning.

We lost two very close games this past week, one on the road at Florida State and one at home to Virginia. The Florida State game was an excellent chance to steal a conference victory on the road. The Virginia game was very exciting as we overcame a 22 point deficit in the second half. The game was highlighted by the play of Will Solomon, who scored a career-high 43 points, which included eight three-point baskets. Several players stepped up to help Solomon, including Pasha Bains and Adam Allenspach with 16 points each.

We go out of conference Wednesday night to face Appalachian State in Littlejohn Coliseum.
