Patrick Boyd Named Freshman All-America

CLEMSON, SC–Clemson freshman outfielder Patrick Boyd (Palm Harbor, FL) has been selected as a member of the 1998 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American baseball team according to Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Boyd, the 1998 ACC Freshman of the Year, finished the season with a .344 average, eight home runs, and 59 RBI after starting every game for coach Jack Leggett’s club.

Boyd bounced back from a season opening slump that saw him go 3-25 (.120) in his first seven games in a Tiger uniform. He finished the season 80-216 (.370) at the plate over the final 52 games and helped Clemson earn its 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
