Pancake Tied for First After First Round of Clover Cup

Mesa, Ariz. – Annabelle Pancake shot a 69 to finish three-under and sit in a tie for first after the first round of the Clover Cup, held at the par-72 Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. Six other players also shot -3 on Friday, putting Pancake at the top of a crowded leaderboard.

As a team, the Tigers finished at -3 (285), just two shots out of first place. Texas A&M leads at -5, while New Mexico is in second at -4. The top three teams were the only teams to finish under par on the day, as Georgia (+1) and Tennessee (+8) rounded out the top five.

Pancake used two birdies to combat two bogeys and finish the front nine with an even 36, before recording four birdies and one bogey on the back nine to finish the day at 69 (-3). Savannah Grewal is the only other Tiger in the top ten after the first round, finishing the day at -1 (71) and tied for eighth. Grewal shot even par on every hole on the front nine, before recording two birdies and one bogey on the back.

Chloe Holder is tied for 12th, finishing the day even (72), while Melena Barrientos recorded three birdies on the day and is tied for 20th at +1. Katherine Schuster rounded out the Tigers’ lineup at +8, while Isabella Rawl is tied for 28th (+3) as an individual.

Clemson tees off tomorrow at 9:40 a.m. for round two.
