CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track and field program will compete in its second meet of the outdoor season on Friday when it travels to Orlando, Fla. to participate in the Knights Invite hosted by UCF. The meet will take place from 11 a.m.-9:20 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-3:40 p.m. on Saturday.
The Tigers are coming off a strong start to the season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational that featured 10 Clemson wins. Both the men’s and women’s 4×400 meter relay came out on top in Atlanta, and Antoinette Van der Merwe won both the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash.
The Tigers boast some serious star power this season, as the ACC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Year and 60 meter hurdle National Champion Giano Roberts is set to compete for the first time this outdoor season. ACC Men’s Indoor Freshman of the Year Wanya McCoy will also toe the line for the first time outdoors in 2023.
Maddie Dinneen started her outdoor career at Clemson strong last weekend, winning the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:51.43. That mark is good for fifth-best in school history. Brynne Sumner and Victor Ndiwa swept the 1500 meter run for Clemson and will look to carry that momentum into Orlando
The Knights Invite serves as the second of seven meets before the ACC Championship Meet to be held in Raleigh, N.C. from May 11-13.
