Novice 8+ Crew Downs Virginia and Finishes in First at Rivanna Romp

Charlottesville, VA – The Clemson rowing team competed at the Rivanna Romp on Sunday on Rivanna Reservoir. The novice 8+ claimed a victory over host school Virginia and the varsity 8+ squad finished fifth in its race.

The novice 8+ A boat for Clemson finished in 15:24.56 for a first-place finish, while Clemson’s B boat came in at 16:01.24 for a third-place finish. Virginia finished second in 15:35.4 for a second-place finish in the novice 8+ event.

The first varsity 8+ for Clemson finished fifth in the race Sunday with a time of 14:27.17. The winner of that event was Ohio State in a time of 13:51.88. Clemson’s B boat finished 17th with a 15:21.17.

The varsity 4+ competed on Sunday for Clemson and the Tigers’ B boat finished third overall with a time of 16:08.57. Wisconsin’s A and B boats swept the top two positions with a time of 16:00.66 and 16:08.10, respectively. Clemson’s A boat finished seventh overall in the 4+ race with a time of 16:18.28.

The Tigers completed their fall racing schedule this weekend and will not race again until the spring season.
