COLLEGE PARK, MD – The 14th-ranked women’s tennis team improved to 13-3 overall and 6-0 in league play with a 7-0 win against Maryland (5-6, 1-5 ACC) in College Park on Friday. The Tigers will now travel to Miami Shores, FL, to play North Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m. on the campus of Barry University. The Tigers have won 38 of 42 possible points in ACC play to start the season, which includes four road wins. Clemson’s stellar doubles play continued, improving to 31-5 (.861) in dual match doubles play overall, and 12-0 in league play. No. 25 Beatrice Gumulya and Yana Koroleva earned an 8-2 win on court one, their eighth straight win together. Romy Koelzer and Tristen Dewar clinched the point with their 8-4 win on court two, upping their record to 6-1 together. In singles, the squad cruised to straight-set wins on courts one (Koroleva), three (Dewar), four (Jessy Rompies), and six (Joana Eidukonyte), and won in tiebreakers on courts two (Gumulya) and five (Yuilynn Miao). The squad is now 32-4 (.889) in ACC singles matches overall. Dewar is a team-best 21-6, while Koroleva is now 12-3 in duals, including six straight wins at No. 1 singles. Clemson upped its all-time record to 32-3 (.914) against Maryland all-time in the squads’ final meeting as conference foes.
