CLEMSON, S.C. – The 12th-ranked Miami Hurricanes defeated Clemson, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19, Friday evening in Jervey Gym. Miami’s Lauren Tarnoff (12 kills) and Janice Leao (10 kills) led Miami to victory as the duo combined to hit .500 for the match. Clemson freshman Cate Long registered a team-high 13 kills on 41 swings. With the win, Miami improved to 4-2, while Clemson fell to 1-1 on the season.

Long was strong offensively for the Tigers in the first as her eighth kill of the set cut the Miami lead to 17-15, but the Hurricanes scored the final eight points of the frame and seized all momentum. In the second, Miami orchestrated a 6-1 run in which the Tigers could not overcome. Clemson held the Hurricanes to a .135 hitting percentage in the third, but 10 attack errors plagued CU in the third and final game.
Up next, Clemson (1-1, 1-1 ACC) heads to No. 13 Georgia Tech (3-1, 3-1 ACC) for a two-match series Oct. 22-23 before heading to Florida State (0-2, 0-2 ACC) on Oct. 25.
