Clemson, S.C. – Junior Forward Edie Clarke (15 points, matched career-best 11 rebounds) logged her second career double-double as Clemson women’s basketball (3-0) defeated UNC Greensboro (2-1),  72-44, in Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Tigers are riding a three-game hot streak.

Clemson was led by junior forward Edie Clarke (15 points, 11 rebounds), who recorded her second career double-double. Senior forward Jenna Lawrence notched her first points in a Clemson uniform, finishing with 12 points on four 3-pointers.

For the second straight game, the Tigers’ playmaking was on point. They recorded 17 total assists with graduate guard Mia Moore registering a team-high six assists.

One of the biggest advantages in the game came from the free-throw line. Clemson managed to shoot 13-for-17 (72%) from the line. Meanwhile, the Spartans struggled from the line, going 6-for-17 (35%).

Junior guard Gloria Tony and sophomore guard Savannah Robinson-Holmes led UNCG with 13 points each. Tony shot 3-5 (60%) from behind the arc, while Robinson-Holmes recorded a season high in points.

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED

Clemson’s defense was the deciding factor in this matchup. The Tigers recorded season highs in steals (12) and turnovers forced (23).

The Tigers' defense was stifling all day as it held the Spartans to 17-51 (33%) from the field and 4-18 (22%) from three. UNCG in the second half alone only managed to record seven made baskets.

This was the third straight game the Tigers have held their opponent to under 60 points, while also winning the last trio of games by at least 19 points.
