CLEMSON, S.C., –  The Tigers kept all three sets with SMU close, but were unable to find a set win and SMU would win in three with 25-17, 25-19 and 25-17 set scores.

SMU went on a 5-1 run to start the game which helped them carry that lead through to the end of the set. Despite the Tigers tallying a match-best 10 kills in the first set, the effective block of the Mustangs silenced the Tigers and handed them a set one loss.

The second set the Tigers kept within two points through the early stages of the set, but a 4-0 run made a 12-10 lead a 16-10 lead for the Mustangs, and the Tigers were unable to overcome that deficit. Despite Addi Rains registering a kill in the set on a free ball, the visitors still won 25-19.

SMU took a lead early on in the third set, but the Tigers battled late in the set to stay alive. Despite SMU leading 20-10, Clemson fought to a 25-17 win, outscoring SMU 7-5 in the final goings of the match. Ultimately, SMU won set three 25-17.

With the 3-0 loss the Tigers are now 8-13 on the season and 2-7 in conference play.
