CLEMSON, S.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its weekly cross country awards Tuesday, with Clemson’s Nancy Cherop winning both women’s awards.
Cherop earned ACC Women’s Runner of the Week and ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week honors after winning the Eye Opener meet over the weekend. She finished in 16:24.6, breaking the meet record and finishing 18 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Clemson teammate Silvia Jelelgo, who finished in 16:42.0. Cherop also finished nearly 40 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher, a South Carolina athlete who ran 17:04.2.
