CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson volleyball returns to action this weekend, playing two matches this Friday, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept. 13. The Tigers will face South Carolina at 7 p.m. Friday in Jervey Gym for First Responders Appreciation Night, and Wofford at 3 p.m in Spartanburg Sunday. All matches at Jervey Gym are free admission.
Clemson vs. South Carolina | Friday, Sept. 11 | 7 p.m.
Last season, Clemson defeated South Carolina 3-2 (14-25, 25-22, 25-17, 23-25, 15-11). Friday will be the 70th all-time matchup between the two programs in an in-state rivalry that dates back to 1977. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a glowstick on Friday.
Clemson vs. Wofford | Sunday, Sept. 13 | 3 p.m.
Clemson holds an undefeated 9-0 record against Wofford. They first faced Wofford on Sept. 18, 2002, securing a 3-0 (30-19, 30-15, 30-8) home victory. Last season’s faceoff resulted in a 3-2 (25-15, 25-13, 20-25, 24-26, 16-14) home victory.
Season Overview
After the first two weeks of the regular season, Clemson volleyball entered week three leading the ACC in digs per set, team assists, team digs, team kills and team blocks. Additionally, the Tigers are top three in the nation in team blocks (No. 3, 75.0), team assists (No. 3, 367), team digs (No. 2, 470) and team kills (#3, 394). Katherine Sandt was named ACC Co-Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week. Sandt remains the lone Tiger setter to win the award this season, winning the award for a fourth time in her career. This is also the second time in her career she's gone back-to-back with setter of the week awards. Last time out, Clemson volleyball fought through five sets Tuesday night in the SEC/ACC Showdown at the Net Challenge, falling 3-2 to Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss.
