CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Volleyball earned a pair of ACC accolades this week, with Maddie Anspaugh being named conference Freshman of the Week, and Katherine Sandt was tabbed as Co-Setter of the Week, the ACC announced Monday evening.
Anspaugh is the first Clemson freshman to be named ACC Freshman of the Week since Neea-Maria Joki did in 2024. This is the first ACC accolade of her career as just the second Tiger to earn Freshman of the Week in their first week of the season, with senior Kennedy Wagner doing the same in 2023.
Anspaugh earned the accolade after being named Big Orange Bash Tournament MVP with three-consecutive outings with 15+ kills. She ended the weekend with 20 kills, becoming the first Clemson freshman to have over 18 in a match since 2020-21. Anspaugh led the ACC in kills this weekend with 52 enroute to earning ACC Freshman of the Week.
Sandt was named co-setter of the week alongside Pitt’s Izzy Starck. For Sandt, this is the third time in her career she has been named ACC Setter of the Week, earning the accolade twice in 2025.
Sandt earned this accolade after tallying a league-leading 130 assists in opening weekend. While averaging 10.0 assists per set, Sandt also had 31 digs, 11 kills and 4.0 blocks in the Big Orange Bash. Sandt was named to the Big Orange Bash All-Tournament Team for her efforts setting the Tigers’ attack this weekend. Sandt had a 53 assist outing against Butler on Aug. 29, which was the second most assists the senior has had in a single game in her career. Additionally, on Friday, Aug. 28, versus Charleston Southern, the setter had a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs.
Anspaugh, Sandt, and the rest of the Clemson Tigers will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 4 in the Clemson Invitational against UNC Greensboro. The Tigers will play three matches, all with free admission that will be streamed on ACCNX. For the most up to date schedule information go to clemsontigers.com.
